Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of achieving performance improvement with excellent balance with respect to the problem (cost and bad effect in miniaturization, longitudinal image density irregularity after endurance, image density irregularity due to pressure contact trace and ghost) in the conventional developing device. SOLUTION: In a contact nip part of a developer carrier and a flexible developer quantity regulation member, a contact region A1 in an upstream part of a contact nip, a region A2 generating looseness 7 with low contact pressure in the center of the contact nip and a contact region A3 in a downstream part of the contact nip exist. In this case, pressure distribution of the contact nip part has the maximum value of the contact pressure in the upstream and downstream of the contact nip part, and has two-peak pressure distribution having the region of the low contact pressure in the center of the nip center part.
