PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inexpensively provide a speed control device of a cross type cableway exactly detecting an actual position of a carrier and calculating an error between the exact position of the carrier and the electrically detected position of the carrier in control to properly operate the carrier according to a degree of the error. SOLUTION: In this speed control device, the carrier moved by being towed by a cable between stops, a prime mover for driving the cable, a controller for controlling the prime mover and a moving amount detecting device for detecting moving amount of the cable are provided, the controller calculates the position of the carrier in control by a signal from the moving amount detecting device, and the prime mover is controlled based on a prescribed operation speed pattern to control operation speed of the carrier. The cable is provided with a coloring part by being separated from the carrier by a prescribed distance. A color sensor is provided to detect the coloring part at each of the stops. By the detection signal of the color sensor, the error between the position of the carrier in control and the actual position of the carrier is calculated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
