Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the occurrence of a period when both exposure adjustments by a diaphragm and by gain control are not performed when performing automatic exposure adjustment by using both exposure adjustment by the diaphragm and exposure adjustment by the gain control of an electron multiplication type solid-state imaging device. SOLUTION: A camera includes an imaging lens (13) with a diaphragm function and the electron multiplication type solid-state imaging device (25). The camera includes a control means (28) for generating gain for electron multiplication to be given to the solid-state imaging device (25) on the basis of the level of a video signal output from the solid-state imaging device (25) and giving a signal obtained by multiplying an inverse number of the generated gain by a video signal outputted from the solid-state imaging device (25) as a diaphragm control signal to the imaging lens (13).
