Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce writing/reading failure of magnetic data by making a magnetic head able to surely be in contact with a magnetic stripe although there is differences in thickness or parer quality of a passbook, or in the folding habit of seam. SOLUTION: The writing/reading process of the magnetic data is carried out in such a manner that MS guides are moved according to the thickness or the amount of deformation of the passbook and the magnetic head is made to be in contact with the magnetic stripe after the deformation of passbook is corrected, or carried out in such a manner as a retry process that the MS guides are moved to the position different from the previously moved position and the magnetic head is made to be in contact with the magnetic stripe by changing the correction amount of the deformation of the passbook. Or, in the magnetic stripe processor provided with a plurality of magnetic heads, the MS guides around the magnetic head are moved so that effect of the seam of the passbook is eliminated.
