Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the using convenience in an on-vehicle navigation device for searching for a detour route for avoiding communication impossibility when a vehicle approaches an out-of-zone area to a communication machine such as DCM. SOLUTION: The out-of-zone area is previously stored in association with a map data. In the process of guiding a route, it is determined whether or not the out-of-zone area exists in the traveling destination of the vehicle (steps S1 to S4). In this case when the out-of-zone area is determined to exist in the traveling destination of the vehicle, the amount of time elapsed until the vehicle passes the out-of-zone area is estimated using the traffic jam degree and the road class (sub-routines A, B). A detour route for avoiding the area beyond the sphere is searched (step S7) only when the estimated time T is larger than the amount of time (timeout) elapsed until the communication machine is disabled from communication after entering the area beyond the sphere. When the detour route is searched (affirmative determination in step S8), the current guide route, the detour route and the communication disabled route are displayed (step S10).
