Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To pressurize fuel, while restraining electric power consumption. SOLUTION: A high pressure pump 1140 supplying the fuel to an injector includes an electromagnetic spill valve 1300 having a needle 1308 energized in the direction closing an inflow port 1306 by a spring 1301, and a pump plunger 1304 pressurizing the fuel by being slid in the vertical direction by a cam 1122 arranged on an intake camshaft. Energizing force of the spring 1301 is set so as to open the inflow port 1306 by pressure of the fuel supplied from a feed pump. When starting an engine, an electric motor of a VVT mechanism is driven so as to rotate the intake camshaft. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
