Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable information terminal having a reinforced power saving function by a means for controlling power supply to a touch screen as well as a display unit, in accordance with the opening/closing state of the display/touch screen unit of the portable information terminal having the touch screen as an auxiliary input function on a display unit. SOLUTION: The portable information terminal is provided with: the display/touch screen unit 12 consisting of the touch screen as an input device for transmitting data by serial communication, and the display unit including an LCD panel; and a power supply microcomputer 103 for controlling a power supply for supplying power to the display/touch screen unit.
