Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic mapping method of image data that reduces artifact and allows automation. SOLUTION: The method comprises: expressing image data of an image as a luminance value; determining a key value as a function of the average luminance value of the image, the minimum luminance value and the maximum luminance value of the image; and creating the luminance adjustment offset value. Further, the method comprises: the creation of the luminance adjustment offset value including application of offset which is a function of a determined key value to each luminance value; and calculation of a tone reproduction curve for calculating the tone reproduction curve of at least one region of the image, including the application of a mapping function which is a function of the first and the second mapping functions to the luminance adjustment offset value.
