PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC power producing apparatus where power consumption is reduced and a device failure can be prevented and to provide a stirling freezer. SOLUTION: The AC power producing apparatus 100 is provided with a rectifier circuit 1 converting input AC voltage into DC voltage to switch any one of conversion of input AC voltage into DC voltage based on first conversion magnification or conversion of input AC voltage into DC voltage based on second conversion magnification larger than first conversion magnification, an inverter circuit 2 converting DC voltage converted in the rectifier circuit 1 into AC voltage, a linear motor M driven based on AC voltage converted in the inverter circuit 2 and a control circuit 3 controlling the rectifier circuit 1. The control circuit 3 does not perform switching from the second conversion magnification to the first conversion magnification before a prescribed period elapses when the conversion magnification of the rectifier circuit 1 is switched to the second conversion magnification before the prescribed period elapses from time when the conversion magnification of the rectifier circuit 1 is switched from the second conversion magnification to the first conversion magnification.
