Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance uniformity of electron emission in a display device equipped with a plurality of field emission elements by preventing an arc from being generated when driving the field emission elements, and to activate a portion forming a dead spot by suppressing portions forming hot spots when aging the display device. SOLUTION: In this driving method of the field emission element equipped with a cathode electrode 10 in which an electron emitting source is provided, and an anode electrode 20 disposed face to face with the cathode electrode, an ac voltage is impressed to the field emission element as a driving voltage for emitting electrons.
