Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an eddy current dynamometer capable of a wide measurement range before a saturation point, without enlargement of the device and to enable to a high resolution measurement even at the low spead rotation. SOLUTION: The dynamometer consists of a stator 7 and a rotor 2 made of magnetic material which have a facing part through an air gap in circumferential direction, and a magnetic field generation means 18 which forms a magnetic circuit by a magnetic force line penetrating the air gap and the facing part. The facing part of any one of the stator 7 and the rotor 2 extends smoothly to the circumferential direction so a magnetic continuous plane having a uniform magnetic field is formed, the other facing part forms a magnetic discontinuous plane which changes a magnitude of a magnetic flux at the air gap repeatedly and periodically in the circumferential direction. A mutually attractive torque between the rotor 2 and the stator 7 is generated due to an eddy current generating the magnetic continuous plane. Further this eddy current type dynamometer performs the torque measurement by a torque measurement means 13 arranged at the stator 7 side. The magnetic continuous plane is formed with a good electrical conductor layer 20 having a higher conductivity compared with an inner material located inside of the magnetic continuous plane.
