PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a receiving method which can be optimally adapted to the loss of information in video reception over a communication network. SOLUTION: The receiving apparatus comprises at least a first module for forming a transport layer and a second module for forming an application layer, the application layer comprising a first sub-module 3 for decoding video, and a second sub-module 7 for displaying the video. The method comprises a step of transmitting a signal of data-loss detection to the application layer immediately, when the transport layer 2 detects that the data have been lost in the transport layer 2; and a step of obtaining a loss-hiding mechanism without waiting for the application layer itself to detect the data loss detected in that way, when the signal of the data loss is received in the application layer.
