Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anisotropic reflection shading image generation device for computer graphics, capable of calculating shadows and marking-off effects, at a high speed. SOLUTION: The image generation device includes steps of receiving apex data input on a polygon (not shown); interpolating the polygon, on the basis of the entered apex data; interpolating and calculating locations, colors, view point vectors, and light source vectors at each pixel in the polygon; calculating normal line vectors and vectors 18 in a marking-off direction by using interpolated parameters 16; calculating COS_PHIs and geometrical components by using the normal line vectors, the vectors in the marking-off direction, the view point vectors, and light source vectors; calculating the inner products, by using the normal line vectors, vectors in the marking-off direction, COS_PHIs, geometric factors, view point vectors, and light source vectors; and calculating specular component colors and diffused component colors by using the calculated results.
