Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker of a double-break mechanism capable of prolonging the service life of a contact and prevent contact failure between contacts in a closed state by suppressing abnormal wear of the contact caused by an arc generated between fixed and movable contacts when a current is interrupted. SOLUTION: The circuit breaker of the double-break mechanism includes a contact mechanism of a current interrupting section having first and second fixed contact shoes 1, 2 arranged in parallel side by side, and a rotation type bridging movable contact shoe 3 having movable contacts 3a, 3b, which face to fixed contacts 1a, 2a fixed on tip ends of the respective fixed contact shoes, and are fixed on a U-shape arm tip end, and an arc extinguishing device combined with them. A magnetic plate 6 is interposed in a middle of the two pairs of the fixed and movable contacts arranged side by side along an opening movement path of the movable contact shoe 3. Magnetism between arcs generated between the contacts of left and right pairs is shielded by utilizing the magnetic plate as a magnetic shield, and offset movement of an arc generating point on the contact is prevented when the arc generating point is affected by action of electromagnetic force.
