Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device in which a format with which an owner of the device or the like do not desire to reproduce by other users is restricted for the reproduction of other users. SOLUTION: The user selects a physical format and a logical format permitting reproduction from the physical format and the logical format by a selection key while confirming a menu picture (format selection picture) shown in Fig.3. A control part 6 records the selected format in a storage part 11. And the control part 6 obtains this format from the storage part 11 during mounting of the optical disk 100, and discriminates whether the format of the optical disk 100 is included in the obtained format or not. When it is judged that the format is included, the control part 6 permits reproduction. When it is judged that the format is not included, the control part 6 prohibits reproduction. Thereby, the format with which the owner of the device or the like do not desire to reproduce by other users can be restricted. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
