SOLUTION: The apparatus for detecting the amount of movement of a moving object 100 is provided with the cameras 11a-11d for photographing images of their periphery in different directions and an amount-of-movement computation part 9 for computing the amount of movement of the moving object with respect to the periphery on the basis of the relation between images time-serially photographed by each of the plurality of cameras and the photographing directions of the plurality of cameras.
