Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycarboxylic acid copolymer making water-reducing property and operability of a cement composition etc. excellent, and, when fluidity and water-reducing property are the same, making its handling easier, its manufacturing method, and a cement additive and a cement composition containing it, and further a polycarboxylic acid copolymer and a cement additive capable of using favorably in an ultrahigh strength concrete for its ability to improve the strength and durability of its cured products, and a manufacturing method of the polycarboxylic acid copolymer having high water-reducing performance and capable of improving operability in cemnent construction by reducing the viscosity of the cement composition etc. SOLUTION: This polycarboxylic acid copolymer is formed by copolymerization of a polyalkylene glycol unsaturated monomer (A2) having an oxyalkylene group bonded to a polyhydric alcohol residue, and a monomer component containing an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid monomer (B').
