PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a facility configured in such a manner that the water leakage precognition and water leakage prevention treatment of an exhaust gas duct section can be easily performed, and a maintenance process for the same. SOLUTION: The exhaust gas collecting facility of the converter which is a facility to collect the exhaust gas of high temperature generated from the converter 1 via an exhaust gas duct D is constituted by disposing openable and closable openings for monitoring the water leakage at a heat collecting sleeve of a membrane structure placed within the exhaust gas duct and constituted by connecting a water passage pipe and fins to an annular form and header pipes placed at each end on a feed/discharge side of the heat collecting sleeve. The process performs maintenance of the facility by press feeding refractories into the deteriorated water passage pipe from the openings for supervising the water leakage disposed at the header pipes, thereby closing the pipes.
