PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for grooves for decoration, which makes radially uniform glossy appearance when forming a flat elliptical kerf pattern. SOLUTION: The decorative plate having a decorative part on which vortical and flat, approximately elliptical grooves 7 for decoration are formed by cutting the surface of a workpiece is manufactured by this method. The decorative plate is rotated, a bite 22A for cutting the grooves for decoration is abutted to the outer peripheral part or the inner peripheral part of the decorative part, the bite 22A is gradually moved to the inner peripheral part side or the outer peripheral part side while reciprocating to the rotating radial direction of the decorative plate accompanied by one rotation of the decorative plate, and the flat, approximately elliptical grooves 7 for decoration are vortically formed. The bite 22A, where a front shape of a cutting edge is made to be a triangle shape, and a relief angle at the outer peripheral side of the cutting edge is increased by at least the maximum shift angle between the advancing direction of the bite A and the tangential direction of the approximately elliptical groove for decoration formed with the bite 22A, is used as the bite.
