Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a centralized meter-reading system capable of collectively reading meters, at small cost in one place, via a relay transmission device compatible with communication modes of the respective meters, even when the meters in different communication modes are installed in respective dwelling units. SOLUTION: The relay transmission device 2 is compatible with a plurality of kinds of water meters 4 (for example, meters 4a to 4c) different in communication speed and/or data configuration. Accordingly, the relay transmission device 2 performs preset conversion determination processings that are compatible with each communication interface (communication I/F) of the water meter 4, applies according to the result of determination, communication conversion processing for compatibility with a communication speed of the water meter 4 and data conversion processings for compatibility with a data configuration of the water meter 4, and performs communication with the water meter 4. Meanwhile, the relay transmission device 2 applies data conversion processing for compatibility with a data configuration of the centralized meter-reading device 1 and communication conversion processing for compatibility with the speed of the centralized meter-reading device 1, and performs communication with the centralized meter-reading device 1.
