Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arithmetic processing unit having excellent extensibility of a system as the whole parallel computer system, and allowing easy speed-up of performance correspondingly to extension of the system. SOLUTION: In this arithmetic processing unit 1, arithmetic means 2 performing arithmetic processing of information received via an interconnection network 3 are interconnected while mutually keeping even intervals by the interconnection network 3 to form the torus-like interconnection network 3. The interconnection network 3 is provided with interconnection means 4 interconnected with an interconnection network of another adjacently provided arithmetic processing unit to configure a torus-like large-size interconnection network. The interconnection means 4 is disposed in a position allowing keeping of the interval of the arithmetic means 2 an even distance even in the large-size interconnection network.
