PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing member that exhibits predetermined sealing properties and is hardly opened upon selling a book but that can be safely and easily peeled off upon opening and that has a base material and a pressure-sensitive adhesive easily separated from the book upon recycling, and to provide a book with the sealing member. SOLUTION: The sealing member to seal a fore edge of a book and the book with a sealing member using the above member are characterized in that the sealing member comprises a base material having a specific gravity of 0.97 or less and a pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising a water-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesive or an alkali-soluble pressure-sensitive adhesive.
