Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device by structure that non-polymerization of a polymeric material (monomer) is not generated. SOLUTION: In the display device having a display area M and a circumferential area N in an area formed by sealing polymeric distribution liquid crystal material 25 in a gap between a first complete substrate 1 and a second complete substrate 11 by a seal member 26, a wiring electrode 19 having light shielding is provided at least part of the circumferential area N of the second complete substrate 11, and an ultraviolet ray transmitting part 19a is also provided which transmits ultraviolet rays in the circumferential area where the wiring electrode 19 is provided. Then, monomer in the circumferential area N is polymerized by irradiating the monomer with the ultraviolet rays from the substrate side where the ultraviolet ray transmitting part 19a is provided. The ultraviolet ray transmitting part is constituted of a plurality of small holes, etc. and the small holes are arranged by being distributed at even intervals. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
