Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a color filter which can have its surface flattened. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method for the color filter includes the processes of: forming a grating-shaped black matrix layer (12) on a surface of a glass substrate (11) and also forming an outer circumferential layer (12a) forming an outer circumferential frame part of a display screen; forming color filter layers (13) of red, green, and blue as pixels between grating patterns of the black matrix layer (12) and also forming narrow-width projection parts (14) of the same material with the color filter layers (13) on the surface of the outer circumferential layer (12a); and forming an overcoat layer (15) of an acrylic resin material on the black matrix layer (12), the color filter layers (13), the outer circumferential layer (12a) provided with the projection parts (14), and the surface of the glass substrate (11) where they are not formed.
