Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal and a communication method to send and receive a data without being influenced by a change of a data capacity due to a conversion of a file format during transmitting in an infrared ray communication. SOLUTION: A control unit 4 compares the data capacity after the file format conversion with a specified upper limit capacity. Even in the case that the data capacity after the conversion exceeds the specified upper limit capacity; the data are transmitted in infrared ray by temporarily storing the data having converted the file format in a storage area which combines the storage area A for the infrared ray communication, and an expansion storage area B for the infrared ray communication in a storage 3.
