Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an update log backup method releasing a storage area for backing up an update log of data by storage completion of a total dump in a storage box storing the total dump equipped in a remote place. SOLUTION: In this update log backup method, a volume management database manages start time and completion time of a backup of the update log, and a release flag showing a release state of a volume in each of a plurality of volumes for backing up the update log of the operation data, and a storage notification reception procedure for setting the release flag to release completion for the volume showing the completion time older than data output time when outputting the whole operation data shown by storage notification to a storage medium is executed in the volume management database when receiving the storage notification of the storage medium from a storage destination of the storage medium of the total dump via a network.
