Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary damper capable of exhibiting predetermined damper functions, and capable of preventing reduction of productivity without causing any troubles in assembly work. SOLUTION: Two oil chambers R1 and R2 are defined in a housing 1 by a main body part 22 wherein a vane 2 housed in a housing 1 is continuously provided in a base part 21 journaled to the housing 1 and can be rocked in the housing 1. When working fluid flows into and from the two oil chambers R1 and R2 with each other by oscillation of the main body part 22 and the two oil chambers R1 and R2 are widened or narrowed, predetermined damping force is generated in a damping part through which the working fluid passes, and an axial end face of the base part 21 of the vane 2 is slidably brought into contact with a thrust washer 4 under the presence of a seal member 3, and the thrust washer 4 is adjacent to an axial end face of a collar member 6 interposed in an outer periphery of an output shaft 5 penetrating an axis part of the base part 21 of the vane 2, and an outside diameter of the collar member 6 is smaller than an outside diameter of the seal member 3.
