Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify the type of an I/O module connected to an arithmetic operation module without being constrained by a specific bus system. SOLUTION: Each I/O module connected to the arithmetic operation module 1 through a connector in a layered manner is provided with a module exclusive selecting part, the module exclusive selecting part discriminates that only a module selection signal inputted from terminals at the same position of an arithmetic operation module side connector is valid, and identification information of its own-I/O module is outputted to a prescribed terminal of the connector on the basis of the module selection signal to thereby enable the arithmetic operation module to acquire the identification information of an I/O module from the prescribed terminal of the connector without being constrained by a specific bus system. In addition, each unique I/O module can be selected by such a simple module selection circuit system that module selection signals sequentially outputted from the arithmetic operation module are inputted to the terminals at the same position of the arithmetic operation module side connector in accordance with a connection order of I/O modules.
