Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a selenium-containing wastewater treatment method and apparatus which can reduce wastewater containing hexavalent selenium, effectively remove selenium with a very small amount of eluted metal, and generate white sludge at the removal which can be easily treated. SOLUTION: In the selenium-containing wastewater treatment method, the selenium-containing wastewater is brought into contact with an alloy or mixture comprising two or more kinds of metals having a different ionization tendency to elute a part of the metals, which reduces selenium. The selenium-containing wastewater treatment apparatus comprises a reduction reactor which has the alloy or mixture comprising two or more kinds of metals having a different ionization tendency and receives the introduction of the selenium-containing wastewater to reduce selenium in the wastewater, a flocculation reaction tank into which reduction-treated water flowing out from the reduction reactor is introduced, a pH adjuster addition means for adjusting the pH of the flocculation reaction tank, and a solid-liquid separator for carrying out the solid-liquid separation of water subjected to flocculation reaction.
