Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume type hologram recording material having satisfactory sensitivity and hologram recording performance whose composition is regulated in accordance with the recording wavelength in a concretely set visible region, individually. SOLUTION: In the volume type hologram manufacturing method where a hologram recording part composed of a photosensitive composition for volume type hologram recording comprising: a photopolymerizable compound as a refractive index modulation component; a photopolymerization initiator; and an intensifying pigment of increasing sensitivity to the visible region wavelength of the photopolymerization initiator is subjected to interference exposure using a prescribed volume type hologram recording wavelength set within a visible region, so as to record the volume type hologram, the intensifying pigment is a cyclopentanone skeleton-containing compound expressed by general formula (1) (wherein, R is a carbon-nitrogen-containing substitution group expressed by NxCy; x=1 to 4; y=8 to 30; R may comprise a hydrogen atom and/or a halogen atom; and (n) is an integer of 0 to 3) and having an absorption at the above volume type hologram recording wavelength, and in which the maximum absorption wavelength is separated by ≥14 nm to the volume type hologram recording wavelength.
