Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical head and an optical disk device capable of improving the quality of a reproduction signal. SOLUTION: The optical head comprises: a laser light source for emitting a light beam; a liquid crystal element for changing the polarization direction of the light beam emitted from the laser light source; a beam splitter for branching the light beam transmitted through the liquid crystal element; a correction element having characteristics for canceling almost the amount of power components generated in the liquid crystal element in an optical path between the laser light source and the beam splitter; an objective lens for condensing light beam transmitted through the beam splitter in an optical disk; and a photo detector for receiving the light beam reflected by the optical disk.
