Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a power transmission chain for a continuously variable transmission capable of prolonging the lifetime of the chain by giving adequate residual compressive stress to a link and enhancing its durability while taking into consideration the condition during the prestressing. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method comprises a step of forming an endless chain by combining a link with a pin, and a step of loading the prestressing force to a chain 1 by winding the endless chain 1 between a first pulley 32 for giving the prestressing force and a second pulley 32 for giving the prestressing force. The winding diameter when giving the prestressing force includes the size of the minimum winding diameter to be obtained by a continuously variable transmission or the smaller size.
