Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens unit whose assembling process is simplified. SOLUTION: A lens unit 1 is provided with a liquid lens 21 constituting a photographic optical system 20. In the liquid lens 21, transparent water 21_3 having an electrolyte added thereto and transparent oil 21_4 being an insulating liquid are stored between cover glasses 21_1 and 21_2 without mixing. Since an optical refractive index of the oil 21_4 is higher than that of the water 21_3, the oil 21_4 in the liquid lens 21 serves as a lens which is refracting light. The liquid lens 21 includes a first electrode 21_6 in contact with the water 21_3 and a second electrode 21_7 in contact with the oil 21_4, which are formed via an insulator 21_5.
