Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a client device appropriately display a document image provided from a server. SOLUTION: The server reads a source document image 4 on the basis of a browsing request from the client device and extracts an item document image 41 as an individual document image for each item. Then, the server divides the extracted item document image 41 into line document images 42. Further, the server feeds a line for the line document image 42 by a line feed width based on the display size of the client device and generates a document image 43 for display. Then, the server prepares an item list by respectively extracting the leading first line of the document image 43 for the display in each item document image 41 and transmits it to the client device. The client device selects the item for which browsing is desired and transmits selection information to the server. The server transmits the document image 43 for the display of the pertinent item to the client device. The client device displays the document image 43 for the display at an image display part.
