PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plane light source unit in which it can be ascertained whether a predetermined optical sheet is assembled or not without causing increase of operation man-hours and lowering of productivity, and a liquid crystal display device using the same. SOLUTION: The plane light source unit is composed of a light source, a light guide plate 4 which introduces light from the light source and emits light in a plane shape, at least one optical sheet (a reflective sheet 2, 3) arranged either on an emitting face A side or on an opposite emitting face B side of the light guide plate 4 and a frame 1 which holds the light source and the light guide plate 4 and the optical sheet (the reflective sheet 2, 3).
