Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a controller of a motor with an electromagnetic brake capable of downsizing a motor and easily estimating a motor temperature. SOLUTION: If the motor temperature rises to reach to a thermal balance state with an electromagnetic brake coil temperature, a control portion 421 calculates a present resistance value R of an electromagnetic brake coil by an Ohm's law based on a present current value detected by a current detection circuit 423 and an electromagnetic brake coil applied voltage generated in the PWM circuit 422, determines the electromagnetic brake coil temperature Tb[°C] from Tb=ä(234.5+Tk)R-234.5×Rk}/Rk (234.5 is a resistance temperature coefficient of a soft copper wire) using the resistance value R and the resistance value Rk in a known temperature Tk[°C], and estimates a temperature Tm[°C] in the motor with electromagnetic brake from Tm=kTb (wherein, k is a coefficient of proportional relation) based on the electromagnetic brake coil temperature.
