Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus capable of accurately correcting the misalignment of a plurality of color images. SOLUTION: A transparent plate 35 made of glass or plastic as a plate type light transmissive member is disposed between an endless carrier 12 and a pattern detection means 14 so as to have a predetermined angle (θ3=θ 1-θ2) to the endless carrier 12. Then, the transparent plate 35 is disposed to cross an optical path formed between a light emitting means 22 and a light receiving means 23 between the endless carrier 12 and the pattern detection means 14.
