Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a releasing agent with which the conditions of the molding face of a die are improved by a repeatedly performed casting cycle, and the service life of the die can be positively elongated, and to provide a casting method using the releasing agent. SOLUTION: An aqueous releasing agent applied to the molding face of a die is blended with an organic acid or an organic acid salt having reducibility and a ligand in ≥0.01 wt.% as a concentration upon its use and also at a ratio of a prescribed concentration as the stability limit of releasing agent emulsion or below as an original liquid concentration. Then, the constituting weight ratio between the organic acid or organic acid salt having reducibility and the ligand is allowed to satisfy the range of 99/1 to 30/70. The releasing agent is applied to the die casting die, the organic acid or organic acid salt having reducibility in the releasing agent and the components of the die molding face are reacted by the heat of the molten metal, and, as Fe2O3in the die molding face is reduced into Fe3O4, casting is performed.
