Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device with high transmission efficiency and excellent abrasion resistance capable of effectively restraining a kick back, a variation or the like, which is a rack and pinion type. SOLUTION: The electric power steering device includes a rigidly supported gear box GB and a rolling supporting device RSD for a rack, thereby attaining a system configuration with no response delay or the like and the high transmission efficiency. Further high steering performance required in an electric power steering device for a long period and a steering assist force more greatly controlled recently can be efficiently transmitted to wheels. Further, when the unillustrated wheels collide with a shoulder of a road to receive a counter input, a torque can be detected by a torque sensor TS and the assist steering force against the counter input can is output to an output shaft OS by a motor MT and a speed reducer. Consequently, the torque of the counter input is restrained from being transmitted to a steering shaft SS side.
