PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for presenting information on a guide route in tree form for a user as to an information providing method of presenting explanation information such as guide information on a map. SOLUTION: A tree-form presentation control section 61 presents the guide route to the user in the tree form which includes passing points and a guide point in the guide route as nodes and made hierarchical according to a detail level. A map-form presentation control section 62 presents the guide route to the user in map form. The tree-form presentation control section 61 and map-form presentation control section 62 cooperatively move presentations in the map form and tree form to a point specified with a node when the node is specified in the tree form. In the presentation in the tree form, information of down to a lower layer is displayed for a part including a current point and information of only an upper layer is displayed for a part distant from the current point as the current position moves.
