Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent, in forming cut grooves on the surface of a green tire before the vulcanization molding, burrs from being produced on their edges, to restrain the generation of defects such as air pools and rubber flow, and thus to reduce the fraction defective of the product tires. SOLUTION: In forming the cut groove 10 on the surface of the green tire 1 with the cutter 70, the cutting is conducted from one end 11 of the center side (the arrowhead V of Fig. 4A) to form the cut groove 17 to the width direction of the tire and then done from the other end 12 of the shoulder side (the arrowhead W of Fig. 4B) to form the remainder, and the cutting is finished at a part other than the edge parts of the cutting groove 10.
