Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a network device which does not waste active/standby switching of a management card. SOLUTION: The device includes a trouble occurrence detection means 242a which detects that a trouble occurs in a management port 5a, a communication line 6 between management cards which connects between the both management cards, and switching means 21a, 21b which switch communication routes so that an active management card 3a can communicate with an external management device through the communication line 6 between cards, further through a management port 5b of a standby management card 3b when a trouble occurs in the management port 5a of the active management card 3a.
