Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently extract light radiated from an LED chip. SOLUTION: The LED chip 1 is arranged so that it projects to the side of a lens 4 to a surface 210 of an insulating base material 21 of a packaging substrate 2. Blue light radiated vertically from an upper surface 110 of a luminous section 11 in the LED chip 1 and that radiated in parallel from sides 111, 111 in the luminous section 11 are propagated through a sealing section 3, the lens 4, and an air layer 6 sequentially and reach a color conversion member 5, and blue light radiated in parallel from the upper surface 110 of the luminous section 11 and that radiated in parallel from the sides 111, 111 of the luminous section 11 are propagated through the sealing section 3 and the air layer 6 sequentially and reach the color conversion member 5. Then, a phosphor is excited by the blue light reaching the color conversion member 5 to radiate yellow light. Finally, by combining the blue light radiated from the LED chip 1 and yellow light radiated from the phosphor of the color conversion member 5, white light is radiated from the color conversion member 5.
