Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video server system in which improvement in reliability in editing is attained by reducing labor and shortening a required time for editing broadcasting program data to be recorded in a video server. SOLUTION: A VTR 15 and a DVD recorder 16 are connected to a recording device 12 via an MPEG encoder 13, a CD recorder 17, an MD recorder 18, and a microphone 19 are connected to the recording device 12 via a PCM encoder 14; and MPEG data generated from the VTR 15 and encoded by the MPEG encoder 13, and PCM data generated from the CD recorder 17 and encoded by the PCM encoder 14, are arbitrarily combined for each program and recorded in a memory by the recording device 12 to manage data on the memory by programs. Program data are then divided into a plurality of files and transferred to the video server 11, and the plurality of files are returned into MPEG data and PCM data in the video server 11 and recorded in a memory.
