Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic dye having an absorption band corresponding to wavelength for so-called blue laser and a new organic compound capable of readily forming a film. SOLUTION: 4-Benzilidene-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-5-one derivatives represented by general formula (A) are used as new compounds of organic dyes. These derivatives exhibit maximum absorption wavelength in 300-450 nm wavelength and exhibit large absorption particularly in the vicinity of 400 nm wavelength. The absorption characteristic corresponds to the wavelength of so-called blue laser and enables application to a medium, etc. Since the compound represented by general formula (A) (wherein R3is a 2-ethylhexyl ester group) has good solubility to alcohols, ketones, etc., and has a characteristic which is hard to crystallize when the compound is formed into a film by using the compound as the organic dye, the derivative has also good physical characteristic.
