Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an emulsion composition in which an L-ascorbic acid derivative is quickly hydrolyzed by phosphatase widely distributed in vivo and which supplies oil and fat components to the skin with a low sebum and protects the skin. SOLUTION: The emulsion composition comprises an L-ascorbic acid derivative represented by formula composed of L-ascorbic acid-2-phosphoric acid ester or its salt containing a branched alkyl group on a phosphoric acid ester part, a polyhydric alcohol and an oily component as active ingredients. The emulsion composition is dissolved in an oil phase component by surface activity of the ascorbic acid derivative itself of a fixed molecular structure, disperses a liquid-phase component into a water-phase component to form an emulsion, the obtained emulsion is compatible with even hardened skin, permeated in the skin and quickly hydrolyzed by phosphatase.
