PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recording device for a vehicle for allowing a driver to grasp his own driving skill so as to improve the driving skill. SOLUTION: The footage from a security camera 3 in various circumstances that do not lead to an accident can be surely given to the driver not only by recording and storing in a memory card 17 only the footage from the security camera 3 at the time of detection of impact but also by always successively updating and recording in an HDD 12 the footage from the security camera 3 at the time of non-detection of the impact as it is, thereby calling on the driver to reflect on his own driving based on the footage from the security camera 3 in the various circumstances.
