Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the lead of a pencil after sharpened to be properly adjusted to an arbitrary thickness. SOLUTION: This electric pencil sharpener is equipped with an operation section 19a which is exposed outside of a case, and an inserting part 19g which is located between the rear end of a shaft body 9g and a following part 18 in the case, and at the same time, is supported by the operation section 19a in a manner to be longitudinally movable. The electric pencil sharpener is also equipped with a sliding part 19 which slide-moves the inserting part 19g accompanying the sliding operation of the operation section 19a. The rear end side of a longitudinally movable part 12 has an engaging section 12k which is engaged with the following part 18 only when the following part 18 retracts. At the same time, the electric pencil sharpener is constituted in such a manner that the thickness in the longitudinal direction of the inserting part 19g of the sliding part 19 may become thinner in the slide-moving direction x of the inserting part 19g as the other side comes closer from one side.
