Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of a visible light response type photocatalyst having a high-performance catalytic activity based on high light absorbing power even in the region of visible light. SOLUTION: The photocatalyst is manufactured by producing titanium disulfide from titanium dioxide and carbon disulfide or from titanium tetrachloride and hydrogen disulfide and heating the resultant titanium disulfide, as the starting material, in a gas flow comprising nitrogen, oxygen, ammonia and water vapor to 400-650°C.
