Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coin sensor for discriminating the quality of a material and the thickness of a coin which passes a coin path by a compact and inexpensive configuration. SOLUTION: In a coin sensor 1, an oscillation side coil 4 and a reception side coil 5 are faced to each other with a coin path 3 interposed, and an oscillator is configured of the oscillation side coil 4 and an oscillation circuit 7, and the oscillation side coil is oscillated with a low frequency, and the oscillation signal of the oscillation side coil 4 when a coin passes is received by a reception side coil 5, and coin materials are discriminated from the change of the output signal of the reception side coil 5 when a coin C passes the coin path 3. Also, the thickness of the coin is discriminated from the change of the oscillation frequency of the oscillation side coin 4 when the coin passes. Thus, it is possible to achieve a compact and inexpensive coin sensor compared with the case that the two sets of oscillation coils and reception side coils for discriminating the material and the thickness of a coin are installed.
